6 Things We Wish We Knew Before Starting a Business

Updated: Aug 3, 2022

1.) JUST START. LIFE IS SHORT. TAKE A LEAP.

Maybe you’re waiting for some kind of sign that it’s the right time. Or for all the pieces of the puzzle to be in the perfect place before starting your business. But our best advice is just to GO FOR IT. There will never be a perfect time. There will always be an excuse. So friend, just take a leap and go for it!

2.) THERE IS ROOM FOR EVERYONE. FOCUS ON PROVIDING A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE.

I think a lot of us truly fear that we're not good enough or that our industry is becoming over saturated but guess what?!? There IS room for everyone!! Focus on making a unique and AWESOME experience instead of feeling threatened that there are too many people offering the a similar service. Build relationships and create a brand that is UNIQUE to you and people will come. We promise.

3.) BOUNDARIES ARE IMPORTANT

Boundaries are SO important! It’s of course important to have good work ethic and be committed to reaching goals and making things happen. But not at the expense of your relationships with your spouse, your family, your friends. And not at the expense of working yourself so hard that you don’t make time to enjoy your life and taking time out to rest. Your business is not your life, it is a part of your life.

4.) WHATEVER YOU DON'T KNOW, YOU WILL LEARN FAST

You might be thinking that you have SO much to learn when it comes to running a successful business. We did too! But here’s the good news: you DON'T have to know it all before you start! Take a leap and get things going and then make it a goal to be continually learning about the things you want to get better at. Listen to podcasts, download audio books and read others blogs. You will be surprised at how quickly you'll learn.

5.) BELIEVE THAT WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER IS VALUABLE TO OTHERS

You may think that what you have to share and offer is not news to anyone because you are an expert in the field... but that’s exactly it. You are an expert and others are not. What you have to share with the world IS valuable and when presented and marketed effectively and with confidence, you will be successful!

6.) IT'S OK TO MAKE MISTAKES ALONG THE WAY. APOLOGIZE AND MOVE FORWARD

Trust us we know. There was ALOT we did wrong in the first years of running our business and while we were sometimes tempted to throw our hands up in the air and quit, we used those experiences instead to grow and learn and keep moving forward. It’s ok to mistakes...just own up to them, apologize and keep on going.

We hope these things might encourage you if you're feeling nervous about taking the leap and following your dreams! You got this friend!
