4 Reasons a Strong "WHY" is Crucial to the Success of Your Business

Updated: Aug 3, 2022

Today we want to chat about the importance of a good WHY behind your business. Your why is the reason that your business exists in the first place. It’s the difference you can make for your clients and customers and it’s the thing that helps you to keep doing what you’re doing even when things get hard or don’t go as planned.

We’re big fans of Simen Sinek and he shares in one of his books that a lot of businesses are missing their why. They know what they do and they likely know how they do it. But they don’t know why they do it. And Sinek believe's that having a strong why is crucial to the success of your business. So today, we’re sharing 4 reasons that we suggest you take some time this week to sit down and write out your WHY:

01. Your story will drive your business - people will come to trust a brand when they feel connection to it. By openly sharing your story, you allow potential clients/customers to connect with you on an emotional level which really makes a difference between you and someone else! For us, we have become so in love with the flexibility that comes from running our own business and that it allows us to have so much quality time with our children in this young stage of life. In the process of getting here ourselves, we’ve decided that we want to share our journey with OTHERS. We want to help other aspiring entrepreneurs to effectively brand themselves and also provide them the tools and resources to run their own successful business too!

02. $$ will never be enough to keep you motivated: When you run a business, it can be easy to get caught up in the numbers. How much you’re making, how many IG followers, how many people are on your email list, etc.,etc., We know you know this but this is just your friendly reminder that no matter how far you go, there will always be bigger goals to go after and bigger things to strive for. We're not saying that that's wrong - keep pushing my friend and dream dream dream. But from personal experience, we’ve both come to realize that a bigger pay cheque doesn’t motivate us enough long term to keep going strong. There needs to be a greater purpose behind it all.

03. Your passion will be contagious! - When you are passionate about something, it will totally show. And that passion will be contagious. It will become so hard to not talk about it and sell your ideas to others because you believe in it so much and you want help others with whatever service you offer or product you sell.

04. It keeps you committed when things get hard - life as an entrepreneur has A LOT of ups and downs. One day we can feel on cloud nine with the way things are going and the next day, we feel like we just want to quit it all. Can you relate? If your WHY is weak, you will find it hard to pick yourself back up and keep going during those low times. But when your WHY is strong, you’ll think back to the greater purpose of your business, and it will help you to push through and keep on going, even on the hardest of days.

We hope that this post was helpful to you in explaining the reasons that it’s important to define why it is you do what you do. It’s possible for your why to change and evolve over time and that’s ok too. But we hope that if you haven’t done this already, that you take some time to sit down, write out your WHY this week and then keep it somewhere you will see it regularly to remind you to keep on going and PUSH through. You got this friend!
